Newspaper Report
A newspaper report is a piece of factual writing that provides information about a recent event or incident. Its main purpose is to inform the public about something important that has happened in a clear, objective, and formal tone. These reports are written in a journalistic style and are usually published in newspapers, news websites, or magazines.
Newspaper reports are usually written in the past tense, unless the event is being reported live. The language used should be clear, concise, and free from personal opinions, emotions, or bias. There should be no jokes, slang, or personal messages. Writers must stick strictly to facts, not feelings, and never report rumors.
They are typically written in the third person point of view—using words like ‘he,’ ‘she,’ ‘they,’ or people’s names. The structure of a report usually includes a headline, byline (reporter’s name), date, and a well-organized body that answers the key questions:
Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How.

New Delhi, April 5: A massive fire broke out at Hotel Sunrise in Delhi late last night, injuring 15 people and causing panic among guests and staff.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 11:45 p.m. in the hotel’s kitchen on the second floor due to a suspected short circuit. Thick smoke quickly spread to the upper floors, forcing several guests to break windows and climb down using bedsheets.
